MLK-8 Center is 'Superior' at Fla. Orchestra Assn. meet

Miami Lakes K-8 Center’s (MLK-8) Middle School orchestra students performed solos, a duet and a quintet at the Florida Orchestra Association District 16 Solo and Ensemble event on February 2.
All soloists earned a Superior rating: Sofia Rebustillo, Emily Castro, Brianna Saldarini on violin, Geena Saldarini on viola and Sabrina Scavuzzo on double bass. These five students also performed a quintet by Bach, “Musette” and received a Superior with Distinction, meaning the music was memorized by all students.
Violinists Jenevieve Gonzalez and Beyla Cantero performed a duet, “Allegro” and also earned a Superior Rating with Distinction.
The orchestra students are in their first to third years of playing their instruments. “These young musicians are amazing; they have shown tremendous dedication, musicality and talent and I am so happy for all of their accomplishments,” states Sara Cino, MLK-8 Orchestra director.
