Mayor Manny Cid and the Town Council will host a reception in observance of the National Day of Prayer at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, in the Council chambers, 6601 Main Street.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
This year’s theme is “Love One Another” based upon John 13:34 “Love One another. Just as I have loved you.”
A light breakfast will be served followed by a musical ensemble from the Elevate Church Worship Band and prayers from members of local houses of worship.
