Miami Lakes residents are anticipating the opening of the town’s new Youth Center nicknamed “The Spot.” The center is scheduled to open in early November and will be a state-of-the-art facility that will serve this and future generations of youth in the town.
“The Spot,” located at 6075 Miami Lakes Drive in Miami Lakes Park East, is a 4,000 square-foot building with multipurpose activity rooms, classrooms for after school educational programs and tutoring, a quiet area for studying, active area with games and televisions, and a lounge area with an outdoor patio.
Programming at “The Spot” will include Open Hang Nights where teens can congregate at the center, along with field trips and community service activities that promote fitness, fun and education.
The center will also host seminars designed to educate youth in everyday activities such as banking, budgeting, nutrition, and job preparation skills including how to write a successful resume.
The building and park will be completely WiFi accessible and a free Town WiFi Hot Spot. Additional amenities associated with the project include a half basketball court, central outdoor courtyard, two pavilion that can be rented for small events and functions, a new state-of-the-art playground, and additional parking, some of which will be completed at a later date.
