The Town of Miami Lakes and its Cultural Affairs Committee are accepting applications for the Women of Distinction Awards.
Women can be nominated in one of six categories, and paperwork will be accepted until Feb. 2.
The awards celebrate local accomplished women and honor Women’s History Month, which happens in March.
Winners with their families and friends will be honored with a private luncheon at Town Hall on March 14, attended by a special keynote speaker.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava was last year’s speaker.
The 2026 Women of Distinction categories are:
Arts Contributions to the cultural life of the community through theater, dance, music, art or literature.
Business Honors a woman who owns her own business or is a CEO or high-level manager of a business or industry.
Education An educator, administrator or a director of a public or private school who is outstanding in the field.
Government The candidate makes outstanding contributions to the community through work in or with local government.
Health Services For outstanding contributions in the health services field.
Volunteer A woman who has made outstanding contributions in service to the needs of others.
Nominees must live or work in Miami Lakes and may only be nominated in one category; candidates submitted in multiple categories will not be accepted.

Applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 2. Winners will be honored on March 14.
