Miami Lakes Optimist Club held its Flag Football closing ceremonies on April 12 to end a successful season. More than 140 children participated in the Flag Football program this year. Mayor Wayne Slaton and Vice Mayor Manny Cid attended the event and helped present trophies to the young players.
“With Flag Football being one of the fastest growing youth sports in the country, hundreds of our Miami Lakes children are now participating in this physically ‘safer” form of athletics,” Slaton aid. “Congratulations to the Miami Lakes Optimist Club and all the teams, sponsors and families for a great turnout and a wonderful season.”
