Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s 18th annual Children’s Fashion Show and luncheon was labeled a stylish fundraising success. The show was held October 11 at the Doubletree Miami Airport Convention Center and featured 125 student models, from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, and drew more than 600 guests.
The event is the largest fundraiser for the first half of the school year and money raised goes towards the “Lend-a-Hand Scholarship Program” that provides tuition assistance to families in need, and the educational needs of the school.
This year’s theme was “Old Country Road” and students performed to a variety of music as they walked the runway. Music and dance was choreographed by Teresita Miranda of Miranda Productions, and showcased the students’ special talents. Roxanne Vargas, Entertainment Host and reporter for “6 in the Mix” on NBC 6 South Florida, served as the MC.
School administrators expressed their appreciation to the Fashion Show executive committee, the class representatives, the backstage helpers and the many people that helped before and during the event along with the students and their families for their patience, commitment and enthusiasm.
Event Grand Sponsor was BLACC Boutique. Diamond sponsors included Mr. and Mrs. Rey & Beatriz Diaz, Oliva Cigar Company, and Simply Healthcare. Clothes modeled b y the students were provided by Dillard’s of Pembroke Lake Mall, Zayas Bridal and Quincañera and Zayas Men’s Shop & Tuxedos.
