Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s Cheetahs had a “Spooktacular” start to their late fall season sports. The Halloween week began with the varsity boys basketball team defeated Immaculate Conception 35-15 on October 28.
The following day, the varsity girls basketball team also defeated Immaculate 15-2, and then, on Halloween, defeated St. Patrick’s 19-2 to start the season 2-0 by outscoring their opponents 34-7 in the first two games.On October 29, the primary boys baseball team defeated Immaculate 7-4 to get their first victory of the season.
On Halloween, the JV Flag football team defeated St. Agnes 14-8 with three interceptions in the game and 30 second left to clinch the win.OLL’s cross country team also wrapped up its season with the All Catholic Conference Tri County Meet at Belen Jesuit School on October 26, and the All Catholic Conference State Meet, also at Belen, on November 2.At the Tri County meet, OLL’s JV girls placed 7th overall with Danielle Martinez placing 16th with a personal record of 10.47.
The JV boys placed 4th overall with eight runners setting personal records: Adam Magoulas, 1st overall at 8:45; Michael Sanchez, 4th overall at 8:59; Joshua Kunkel at 10:04; Miguel Palacios at 10:31; Jason Ravelo at 11:09; Brandon Ravelo at 11:22; Ian Cueli at 11:27; and David Espinosa at 12:13.Two student representing varsity boys were Danny Quesada at 15:24 and Ethan Cueli at 16:30.At the State meet, Michael Sanchez received a medal for placed 20th with a personal record of 12:48.
