Christina Lujan, a 2014 graduate from Monsignor Edward Pace Senior High School, is the recipient of the Mahatma Rice and Univision Radio Scholarship. Lujan's award-winning essay for the scholarship discussed her love for psychology and how her studies at Pace have helped shaped her for a God-given call for a career in counseling.

“I included in my essay how my school has provided me with the essential courses that confirmed my love for this career field, which was the advanced placement psychology class,” said Lujan. “Winners are chosen based on the essay, an interview and personal qualities. I was blessed to have been one of the lucky ones to have won!”

Lujan's essay was selected out of 20 finalists chosen from Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. The top six winners were awarded $2,000 at a dinner ceremony at Lario's, a South Beach restaurant.
