For his role as the head of the Leadership staff at Monsignor Edward Pace High School, Student Affairs director Eduardo Flor was named Senior High Coordinator of the Year at the OneBlood Blood Drive Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 9. Leadership students also received a monetary award for college in honor of their service.
The awards continue the school’s storied tradition of community service. During the 2013-2014 school year, Pace students and staff, in conjunction with parishioners from Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, collected over 400 pints of blood.
Working together with the OneBlood organization, Pace leadership students aided with three blood drives held on campus throughout the school year. Dr. Robert del Valle, a Pace volunteer and parent, oversaw the drives, making sure they were kept on protocol and ensuring that students stayed healthy while contributing to this worthy cause.
“The students that donate their time and blood are there to be part of a community dedicated to helping people they will never know or meet, but whose lives depend on the very blood being donated,” said del Valle. “I admire the dedication that Pace students demonstrate to donate blood and selflessly help others at every opportunity that presents itself.”
