Pastor Louis Egipciaco shares special message for Easter

Religious Tuesday, March 13, 2018

It’s Easter again, and the season is filled with images representing the Holy Day. One of the images that comes to mind are the three crosses at Calvary. We know who occupied the center cross; Jesus, God’s son, who came to die for our sins.

But, who occupied the other two? The Bible tells us that there were two criminals crucified on both sides of Jesus.  One of these criminals mocked Jesus, and the other one asks Jesus for help in the after life saying, “remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Jesus, lovingly responded by saying, “today you will be with me in paradise.”

Here’s what we learn from this scene on the cross, Heaven is not for “good” people, Heaven is for forgiven people. We know the criminal was not a good person because the Roman cross was only reserved for the most vile of criminals.  Yet, he admitted his sin saying, “We are getting what our deeds deserve” and he asked Jesus for help saying “Remember me.”

Everyone in history is a spectator to the crucifixion of Jesus. We all have a decision to make. Will we respond like the first criminal and reject Jesus or will we respond like the second one by admitting guilt and asking Jesus for help with eternal life?

Remember, forgiven people go to heaven.  If you admit your sin today and believe that Jesus paid for your sin by dying on the cross, you will be saved, forgiven and given everlasting life in heaven. I invite you today to believe in Jesus, and you too will resurrect like He did on the very first Easter morning.

Happy Easter from all of us at Elevate Church
