Pets of Miami Lakes

     Carolina Velasquez met an Australian Cattle Dog puppy 12 years ago at the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

     She took him home and named him Grizzly.

     “Grizzly thinks he’s a lap dog and loves nothing more than curling up close for some quality cuddle time,” she said of the pet who lives in Miami Lakes with her and her boyfriend Jorge Tellez.

       Grizzly’s breed is skilled at herding livestock, and he uses that talent during his walks with the couple.

     “He puts his body weight against you,” she said of how Grizzly steers people in the direction he wants to go. That includes going to work with Velasquez.

     Grizzly is also a talker.

     “He’s really a whiner, and is vocal and lets you know his needs,” she said.
