On April 9, Miami Lakes’ Elderly Affairs Committee held their 10th annual Senior Games Track & Field events at Dade Christian School.
The competition included a 110-meter dash, shot put, discus throw, 200-meter dash, standing broad jump, 400-meter run, soccer accuracy kick, archery and horseshoes.
The Senior Games, held at various times throughout the year, now include softball, dominoes, bunco and canasta. Duplicate Bridge will take place June 6 at Mary Collins Community Center, and the basketball free throw, three-point shooting and bean bag toss is scheduled August 27 at Shula’s Athletic Club.
The games are open to participates ages 50 and up. The top three participants in each age/sex group wins pins/ribbons. All participants receive a 10th year Senior Games T-shirt. There is no entry fee to participate.
