Miami Lakes area residents who receive curbside waste collection service from Miami-Dade County can now recycle their Christmas trees by taking them to one of the county’s Trash and Recycling Centers or the West Miami-Dade Home Chemical Collection Center.
All trees brought in for recycling must be free of tree stands, lights, ornaments, tinsel and other decorations. The trees will be converted into mulch, available to residents on a first-come, first served basis beginning in early February.
The two closest Trash and Recycling Centers available to area residents are Palm Springs North, 7870 N.W. 178 Street, and North Dade Landfill, 21500 N.W. 47 Avenue. The two centers are open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Home Chemical Collection Center, 8801 N.W. 58 Street, will be open 7 days a week through January 9 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for tree drop off only.
Christmas tree mulch will be available at the North Dade Landfill beginning in early February while supplies last. Residents need to bring their own bags or containers.
