Reminder: Nightly curfew for minors in effect around Main Street

Families who may enjoy spring break vacations in March will want to remember that a nightly curfew governs minors’ activities in downtown Miami Lakes.

Miami-Dade Police officers patrol the neighborhood around Main Street, where pizza and ice cream parlors, other restaurants and the movie theater are natural attractions for family fun.

Curfew for minors begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m.

Anyone younger than 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult, and IDs will be checked.

One parent or guardian may chaperone up to three minors, who may include the adult’s children.

On weekend evenings, pedestrian access to Main Street will be limited to entrances near the movie theater, at Northwest 67th Avenue and at New Barn Road.

Following the usual schedule, Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 p.m. on those nights.

The Graham Companies owns Main Street and asks that parents not drop off their children.
The company has posted code of conduct signs as well as notices for the curfew and reminders that police are authorized to ask unaccompanied children to leave the area.
