The Miami Lakes Bar Association presented recently graduated Barbara Goleman senior Gabriel Diaz with a $1,000 scholarship at the June 16 Miami Lakes Town Council meeting.
Diaz will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall where he will study computer science and environmental engineering.
“The purpose of the scholarship was to recognize an outstanding graduating senior from within our community,” Bar Association President Melissa Alvarez said.
Alvarez said the choice was made because Diaz demonstrated academic success, leadership and commitment to his future.
A committee voted for him unanimously, Alvarez said.
