School board elects Tabares Hantman chair for 13th term

The Miami-Dade County School Board elected Perla Tabares Hantman chair for the 2020-2021 school year, the 13th time she has been chosen to lead the educators.

     Tabares Hantman represents District 4, which includes Miami Lakes, where she lives, and Hialeah.

     “Every year presents a new challenge, and this year has been no exception,” Tabares Hantman said in a news release.

     Board member Dr. Steve Gallon III was elected vice chair on Nov. 17. 

     He represents District 1, which includes Miami Gardens, where he lives, as well as North Miami and Opa Locka.
