Sierra Girls Volleyball Club holds tryouts at Dade Christian Oct. 24-25

The Sierra Volleyball Club, the brainchild of Carlos Sierra, has made the Miami Lakes area its new home at Dade Christian School. With three daughters involved in volleyball clubs for the last six years, Sierra felt compelled to start his own club.

In Sierra’s first year leading the Sierra Volleyball Club for the 2014-2015 season, the club was able to capture two first place trophies at local Broward County tournaments and an MVP award in Orlando at the Amateur Athletic Union AAU Nationals.

Initially the teams in the club were predominantly made up of Dade Christian athletes but this season, Sierra decided to open registration to all Miami Lakes residents and expand to surrounding areas. For the 2015-2016 season, teams are between U12 and U18. Beginners and advanced players are welcome to join.

The Sierra Volleyball Club is a member of AAU Volleyball and the Florida region USA Volleyball. Those interested in registering for tryouts can sign up online at www.sierravolleyballclub.com.

Tryouts are scheduled for Saturday, October 24 with 11-12 year old tryouts from 2 to 4 p.m. and 13-14 year old tryouts from 4 to 6 p.m. On October 25, tryouts will continue for 15-16 year olds from 2 to 4 p.m. and 17-18 year olds from 4 to 6 p.m.

The preregistration fee is $40 per person and $50 at the door. Tryouts will take place at Dade Christian School, 6601 N.W. 167 Street.
