Special Easter services and events scheduled at M. Lakes area churches

Miami Lakes area churches have scheduled a variety of special service events for Easter. 

New Testament Baptist Church (NTBC) has scheduled “The Story,” an Easter musical retelling of the Bible from Genesis through Revelation, that will be showing on the big screen on Saturday, April 19, at the church located at 6601 N.W. 167 Street.

Additionally, a Good Friday service will be held on April 18 at noon to partake in the Lord's supper. Easter Sunday on April 20, NTBC will be celebrating the resurrection with a 7 a.m. sunrise service outdoors, an indoor English service at 9 a.m. and an indoor Spanish service at 11 a.m.

Palm Vista Community Church has been serving Miami Lakes for 17 years. The church meets in Miami Lakes Middle School's auditorium at 6425 Miami Lakeway North at 10 a.m. each Sunday. 

On Friday, April 18, the church will hold its Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. focusing on the crucifixion of Christ. On Easter Sunday, April 20, the church will have a special service at 10 a.m. celebrating the resurrection of Christ with a sermon entitled "Jesus is Alive!"

Miami Lakes Baptist Church, located at 6250 Miami Lakes Dr., is having a special service on Good Friday, April 18 at 8 p.m. and special services for Easter on Saturday, April 19 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 20 at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The church also features the largest egg hunt in Miami Lakes during Saturday and Sunday services. Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, located at 15801 N.W. 67 Avenue, is holding various Easter services. On Good Friday, April 18, a traditional Stations of the Cross will be held in English at 10 a.m. and again in Spanish at 11 a.m. A devotional service to the Divine Mercy in English with recitation of the Chaplet will be held in Spanish at noon and in English at 2:30 p.m. Following, a Good Friday Reflection sermon will be held at 4 p.m. and a bilingual liturgy of the Lord's passion is at 6 p.m.

Holy Saturday, April 19, will have a bilingual liturgy of the Easter vigil at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday masses include those in English at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., and 5:30 p.m. and those in Spanish at 8 a.m., 12:45 and 7 p.m.

The Church of the Epiphany, previously known as St. Margaret’s and St. Francis of Asis Episcopal Church, located at 15650 Miami Lakeway North, is holding Good Friday, Palm Sunday and Easter services in addition to its regularly scheduled sermons on Sundays and Bible studies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

On Good Friday, April 18, the church is planning a liturgy in English at noon. Following that evening, an outdoor sunset service will be held on the field behind the church at 7 p.m. and is open to all members of the community.

On Holy Saturday, April 19, an 8 p.m. Easter Vigil and Holy Eucharist service will be held. On Easter Sunday, April 20, at 9 a.m. a Spanish Holy Eucharist service is scheduled and an English service will follow at 10:30 a.m. A children's Easter Egg Hunt will take place after the services.

Sunrise Presbyterian Church, located at 18400 N.W. 68 Avenue, is holding a Good Friday worship service on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. On Easter Sunday, April 20, a sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. by the "Joyful Kings" mural on the Miami Gardens lawn. Sunday School for adults will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and worship services will take place in the sanctuary in English at 10 a.m. and in Spanish at 11:30 a.m.

Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, located at 16601 N.W. 77 Court, will hold an All-Night Vigil on Saturday, April 19 from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Agape Vespers on Sunday, April 20, at noon, followed by an open house, a free meal and a children’s egg hunt.

Miami Lakes United Methodist Church, located at 14800 N.W. 67 Avenue, will hold a special evening of live music and drama at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 18, retelling the Greatest Story Ever told, the story of Jesus and His love for us. Easter Sunday services at 10 and 11:30 a.m. will feature a stirring drama from the student ministry, live orchestral music and a combined voice choir.
