Revelers enjoyed an elegant night at the Mayor’s Gala on Nov. 14 at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Main. Mayor Josh Dieguez called the black-tie party a success, having sold 220 tickets to the event which benefits the town’s Special Needs Advisory Board and funds its activities for people in the community.
“We raised an amazing amount of money,” Dieguez said. “From my recollection it’s the most we have raised.” The town will announce the proceeds in coming weeks when a symbolic check is presented to the Special Needs Advisory Board. Money from sponsors and a silent auction of sports and pop culture memorabilia will also support the committee’s budget. The emcees were former Special Needs Advisory Board chair John Rogger and Brenna Verner, secretary for Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex at Miami Dade College.
