Opening for one weekend only, the Main Street Players of Miami Lakes is proud to present MIA Dreamscapes’ production of The Painting. Written by absurdist author Eugene Ionesco and directed by Isaac Polanco, this bizarre work is about a negotiation between a struggling artist and a wealthy benefactor.

The show's cast includes Michelle Antelo, Lou Castro, Richard Cifuentes and Nathalie Nodarse, and runs March 14 to 16, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for this production are $15 and are available on the Main Street Players’ website or at the door prior to admission.

The production features the artist, known as The Painter, who wants to sell his painting to a  benefactor, known as The Stout Gentleman, for a good price. However, The Stout Gentleman intimidates and bullies The Painter, successfully low-balling him to an almost criminal degree. The audience eventually learns why The Stout Gentleman covets the  painting so much and how far he is willing to go to attain both beauty and fulfillment.

Following The Painting, Main Street Players will present award-winning playwright David Michael Sirois’ play, Secrets of the La Croix, described as a story full of fun, regret, laughs, lies and cranberry sauce. Secrets of the La Croix is slated to run from April 25 through May 18. This comedy about the La Croix family Thanksgiving isn't a holiday ... it's a war!

Main Street Players’ productions are held at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL 33014. For more information call 305-588-3737 or visit the website www.mainstreetplayers.com.
