The Person of Christmas, Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-20:
But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from Holy Spirit.
She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save his people from their sins.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken to the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel” (which means, God with us)” Matthew 1:20-23, ESV.
1) Jesus (God who saves”)
She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21).
Yeshua/Joshua: “God is Salvation”
2) Immanuel (“God with Us”)
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). (Matthew 1:23).
3) Savior… Christ…. Lord (“God who frees Us”)
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:11).
Many well-meaning people love the Idea of Christmas because they can keep Christ in the cradle – but he claims to be, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
The question is…Is Jesus you Savior! Is Jesus your Christ? Is Jesus your Lord?
