Town creates Online Local Business Directory as an interactive resource for users

The Town of Miami Lakes started 2014 by organizing an Online Local Business Directory. The interactive business directory will be placed on the town’s website as well as the town’s mobile application and is expected to go live within the first quarter of the year.

Each business will have an individual page which will include the business name, type and location. Through this initiative, the Town hopes to highlight and strengthen the business community by promoting local businesses and the services they offer.

Business owners will be able to create and tailor their listing to include a business logo, photos of new merchandise or menu items, announce upcoming events and available job opportunities, and even include weekly coupons, all for free.

Users will be able to search the directory using keywords like “pizza” or “dentist.” The interactive mapping portion will then bring up all the local businesses within that category, and even provide driving and walking directions.

The Town is working to continue to find ways to promote businesses and strengthen the local economy. “We want to encourage residents of Miami Lakes to spend their dollars in their town,” said Councilmember Tony Lama. “But in order to do that, we needed to make it easier for the residents to find local businesses. This is the result of a great collaborative effort by the staff and the Economic Development Committee.”

Business listing information may be sent to the town’s Economic Development Coordinator Nicole Singletary via email at singletaryn@miamilakes-fl.gov, or by calling 305-512-7132.
