The Town of Miami Lakes, its Education Advisory Board and the Veterans Committee are launching their banner projects this month to honor Class of 2023 high school and college graduates and current and former members of the military.

The banners will be displayed along Miami Lakes Drive: Veterans’ tributes will be placed between Northwest 67th Avenue and the Palmetto Expressway, while grads’ banners will hang from Northwest 57th Avenue to Northwest 67th Avenue, and west from the Palmetto Expressway to Northwest 87th Avenue.

Military banners feature a photo and the branch of service. Presented in part with the Miami Lakes AutoMall, there is no cost to the family or service member.

Applicants may be on active duty, a reservist, veteran or retiree from any branch or era, and must live or work in town to be nominated for the tribute.

Service members can be nominated or submit their own application by using the Google form found at https://bit.ly/3XFIyBE.   Apply by the end of April.

For more information, email Jonathan Gil at gilj@miamilakes-fl.gov.

Graduates’ banners will feature the student’s photo, name and school and cost $137.35 ($126.99 plus a $10.36 fee.)

Graduates’ banners will be displayed for three months and then the keepsake may be picked up at Town Hall.

A form, photo and payment are due April 28; go to toml.eventbrite.com
