The Fourth of July always dazzles at Veterans Park - but as the United States of America celebrates its 250th, organizers are planning something fit for a big birthday.
Spectators are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. They’re also encouraged to dress in red, white and blue - or even better, dress up like a colonial American.
Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. with a DJ. A ceremony at 6:30 will include presenting of the colors, the national anthem and recognition for veterans. Then, live music and a DJ, as well as food trucks. A kids’ zone will feature games, inflatable slides and other fun.
Main Street Players actors will perform, and there will be blood donation. A quiet room will be available inside the Mary Collins Community Center.
Then at 9 p.m., the main event - fireworks fit for a 250th.
