“Yes, I am ready for the holidays,” Mario O. Pinera III said. “[I’m hoping] it’s going to be a cold holiday. That’s what we need. Holidays are around the corner. I get to spend more time with family, school is going to be out and [I’ll get] to see my cousins.”

Chanel Gonzalez  Title Agent  Miami Lakes

“I am very ready and very excited for the holidays,” Chanel Gonzalez said. “I’ve never waited this long [to start preparing] for the holidays. ... But this year has been all over the place.”

Anthony McArthur  Student  Florida International University Miami Lakes

“I’d say I am,” Anthony McArthur said. “I think in recent years it’s been a little tough to get into the holiday spirit because you get to that age, you’re focused on establishing yourself, your career and education. I think once in a while it’s nice to step back and look at what’s going on and spend time with family and friends.”

Nikki Criado  Nurse, Veterans Administration Hialeah

“I must say I’m not ready for the holidays, but I sure would like to be,” Nikki Criado said. “I have always loved the holidays, for me more so Christmas. I really like celebrating and decorating and doing the whole nine yards. I really don’t have my stuff ready just yet, part of it because of the early voting and I’m spending a lot of my time [volunteering] here.”

“I don’t think so, all the inflation is making things more pricy,” David Luis said. “I saw ALDI, they have nice deals. I’ve been looking at that to get ready for Thanksgiving dinner with my friends and family. For Christmas, I have a whole bunch of things I am backed up [on]. We have a small Christmas tree we’re going to put up in the apartment and I just can’t wait for it.”
