Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee will host its annual Concert in the Park at 6:30 p.m. on its new date, Saturday, January 30, at Picnic Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. The original performance date of November 14 was canceled due to inclement weather.

The show is free and open to the public, and will feature the presence of several food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, picnic baskets, friends and family for an evening of relaxing music under the stars.

The jazz concert will feature the renowned talent of Electric Piquete, co-founded by Michael Mut, a longtime town resident. Formed in 2007, Electric Piquete is a Latin funk band known for its Afro-Cuban authenticity and inventive takes on Latin and jazz standards.

They released a Latin jazz single, a Latin soul single, debuted at the Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival, played Carnaval on the Mile for the sixth straight year, served as the house band at the Miss Carnaval Miami beauty pageant for a fourth time, and had a song placed on a special about Miami on CNN, all in 2015.

“As a long-time town resident, it’s a pleasure and an honor to have been asked to play this concert at the beautiful Picnic Park West,” said Mut.

“We’re looking forward to entertaining the families and folks of Miami Lakes and surrounding areas, and I’m especially excited about playing a show so close to home.”
