Town's Health and Fitness Fair planned for Aug. 29

Miami Lakes’ Elderly Affairs Committee and the Youth Activities Task Force are bringing the community together as they jointly present a family event – the first annual Town of Miami Lakes Health & Fitness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue.

All Miami Lakes families are invited to attend this FREE event. Over 40 local health and wellness professionals, organizations, and businesses will be providing information on health, wellness and fitness opportunities available in the Miami Lakes area.

Walgreens will be administering flu vaccinations; Nicklaus Children’s Hospital will be doing EKG screenings for children in collaboration with the Breanna Vergara Foundation; Tenet Health will be conducting BMI and blood pressure screenings; Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles will be providing wheelchair tune-ups; and the Town’s Public Safety Committee in partnership with the Town’s Community Service Officer will be conducting child car seat inspections – all for free.

The event will also include an outdoor "KidZone" with a rock climbing wall and obstacle course, as well as a "design your own kite" activity sponsored by the Youth Activities Task Force.
