Transit discounts available for students in grades K-12

Students enrolled in any public, charter or private schools in Miami-Dade County are eligible for a K-12 EASY Card.

The card enables students in kindergarten through 12th grade to ride a Metrobus and Metrorail for half-price.

Preschoolers ride for free.

The EASY card can be loaded with a daily, weekly or monthly pass. The $2 charge for the card is waived for first-time applicants, the county said.

Students may also add a cash value to the card, online through Transit Store, by phone or in person at any Metrorail station.

Apply at any Transit Service Center or online by completing a registration form and presenting proof of enrollment, a current student ID, class schedule and recent report card, if applicable.

Students in grades below high school will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to get a card.

A child in a Miami-Dade County school is eligible for the discount rides, even if his or her family resides in another county.

Teachers, counselors, principals or other officials may not apply for the transit discount on behalf of a student.
