Neill D. Robinson, 71, is a volunteer who chairs the Cultural Affairs Committee for the Town of Miami Lakes.

Robinson is a retired public administrator.

He is married to Deborah Robinson and they have three children: Kimberly Robinson, 49, Laurean Robinson, 40 and Brandon Neill Robinson, 34.

Q: Where are you from, and what is your background?
A: I was born in North Carolina, in a small town called Dunn. I moved

to Philadelphia to study public administration and political science. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moved to Miami Lakes in 1978.

Q: What do you most like about Miami Lakes?
A: Miami Lakes is a very family-oriented community, like a small town. It’s a wonderful place for children to grow up.

Q: What do you dislike about the town?
A: The only dislike I have is that we have an increase [in the] number of cars and traffic, which is part of growth.

The other thing I am concerned about is the super mall that is on the drawing board, and how that may affect Miami Lakes. Also, the possible bridge opening can affect the quality of life we are accustomed to.

Q: As chair of the Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee, what are the challenges and what do you hope to accomplish? A: Our mission is to promote and educate residents and surrounding communities by staging cultural events that enrich our community.

It is also important to know that the events we plan highlight and showcase the various ethnic cultures in Miami-Dade [County] and Miami Lakes. We try to plan activities that are for the family, that everyone can enjoy and develop a deep appreciation for the diversity we have here in the Town of Miami Lakes.

Q: What is your biggest accomplishment, whether in your personal life or career?

A: My biggest accomplishment is that I found a beautiful, intelligent, capable woman, Deborah, and I married her.

Q: Do you have a fantasy career?
A: I’d like to own an NFL team. I love football.

Q: What are you reading and what podcasts are you listening to?
A: I am currently listening to an audio book called “Greenlights” by Matthew McConaughey. It’s very interesting, about his life in Texas.

Q: What have you binge- watched on TV?
A: I think the last binge-watching show I did was “House of Cards.”

Q: Where did you last travel to on vacation? A: Florence and Rome, two years ago.
