Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force announced it will partner with Girl Scouts Chloe Schwinghammer and Emily Wong from Troop 248 to offer a Fit Fair for the community from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, at Miami Lakes Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue.
The Fit Fair, created by the two girls as a Girl Scout Silver Award project, is intended to reduce obesity by promoting health and fitness, and to help Miami Lakes residents learn about fitness opportunities in the town.
The event is free and will offer presentations by local professionals about child and adolescent health and wellness, and feature local businesses, organizations, and groups who will inform the public about the fitness opportunities and programs available for children.
With schools scheduled to reopen classes in late August, the event is a timely back-to-school event and an opportunity for parents and children to learn about fun and healthy activities for the upcoming school year. Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force will also offer back-to-school giveaways and promote its own fun activities and programs.
Miami Lakes businesses and organizations interested in participating in the Fit Fair are advised to contact Girl Scouts Troop 248 at 248gstroop@gmail.com.
