Zontas launch 16 days of activism against violence toward women

      The Zonta Club of Miami Lakes is joining with Zonta International to say ‘No’ to violence against women and girls.

       Its awareness campaign, called 16 Days of Activism, will run from Nov. 25 - Dec. 10.

      The local chapter is inviting anyone interested in learning about the charitable organization, which supports the education of women and girls and women’s rights, to its next meeting.

        The group will gather at Gaucho’s Gourmet Market, 7357 Miami Lakes Drive in Miami Lakes on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.   To R.S.V.P. call chapter President Magaly Rubio at 305-821-0203.

      During the meeting, the club will accept T-shirts that are 100 percent cotton. New or used, the shirts will be dissembled and used in birthing kits, Rubio said.
