BankUnited leader named to Federal Reserve advisory post

The Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta has appointed Rajinder P. Singh to its Board of Governors’ Federal
Advisory Council.
Singh, 49, of Miami and New York, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of BankUnited Inc., which is headquartered in Miami Lakes.
The council has 12 banking industry executives who each represent a Federal Reserve district.
It meets several times a year to advise the board of governors.
“It is a great honor and privilege to be nominated to join this group,” Singh said in a press statement released by BankUnited. “I look forward to representing my district and its members.”
Singh was one of BankUnited’s founding members in 2009.
Before he became chairman, he served as the company’s chief operating officer.
During his quarter century in the industry, Singh previously held positions at WL Ross & Co., Capital One Financial Corporation; North Fork Bancorporation, Inc. and FleetBoston Financial
Corporation.
Singh earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University, the bank said.
