Pace drama club members visit London for study abroad

Students from Monsignor Edward Pace’s Drama Club traveled to London this summer for a theatrical study abroad program. Eight students, accompanied by parent and faculty chaperones as well as Pace’s new Director of Fine Arts, Marianne Martinez, embarked on a weeklong theatre enthusiast’s dream trip across the pond.

The students began the first few days of their journey taking in many of the city’s historical and iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, Westminster Cathedral and the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, to name a few.

In the days that followed the students had the opportunity to attend theatre workshops at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art as well as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The group visited William Shakespeare’s birthplace at Stratford-upon-Avon and toured some of the locations where the Harry Potter movies were filmed.

As a bonus, the drama students were able to see all of the lessons they learned in action as they attended two live performances of the Broadway hit show Wicked as well as the show that is being called the “best new comedy”, The Play that Goes Wrong.

This trip was a first of its kind for Pace High School, and an experience that will be remembered for many years to come.
