Miami Lakes Police Officer Luis Garcia was honored as “Officer of the Quarter” by the Town Council and Police Major George Perez at the May 2 Council meeting for his outstanding dedication to protect and serve the Miami Lakes community.Garcia was assigned to the Town in July 2016 after being hired by the Miami-Dade County Police Department in 2013. Dr. Oscar Bicet visits Town Hall

Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet, a Cuban human and civil rights advocate, recently paid a visit to Miami Lakes Town Hall to meet with elected and government and officials. In 2007, then-President George W. Bush awarded Dr. Biscet the Presidential Medical of Freedom.  The 55-year-old Dr. Biscet is also the founder of the Lawton Foundation.
