Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High’s marching band needed new instruments. So the school applied to the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, established by Michael Kamen. He composed the score for the 1995 film “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” about an inspirational composer turned music teacher. History Lake Elizabeth was developed during the late 1980s and early 1990s by The Graham Companies, which grew the 6.5 square mile town from its dairy farm. Similar to many of the company’s developments in town, properties in Lake Elizabeth are built around water. The lake was named for Elizabeth Graham, who married and is known as Elizabeth Martinez.
