Mater Lakes’ Bellon a force on the mats

Girls wrestling is getting bigger at the Florida high school level, and Carolyna Bellon is one of the state’s success stories. Bellon, a junior at Mater Lakes Academy, is off to a fierce start this season. She’s the state’s top-ranked girl in the 128-pound division, based on polling done by the Orlando Sentinel. Clyde Glover has coached girls high school basketball for 30 years and enjoys building winning teams. In two decades at Monsignor Edward Pace High School, the Lady Spartans won three state championships in 2002, 2003 and 2005 under his leadership, Glover said. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Top-25 Preseason Coaches’ Poll ranked St. Thomas University’s baseball team No. 2 for the coming season.
