Despite Plantation’s star quarterback and cornerback Cris Lammons missing the game because of an injury, the Colonels ran their way to victory over American High (26-15), in the regional quarterfinals last month.

Plantation recorded 218 total yards on the ground, with Antwuan Haynes rushing for 160 of those yards, and three rushing touchdowns. The Patriots kept the game close in the third quarter with two touchdown runs by Kama Burns and Dawun Hylton and a safety.

But the Colonels’ running attack proved to be too much for American and Plantation scored on a touchdown reception to seal the victory. Helping Plantation’s scoring drives were American’s 11 penalties for 75 yards.

Also in high school football news, Dade Christian won’t be making a return trip to the state championship game after losing to Glades Day, (20-7) in the Class 3A regional semifinal game.
