Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board announced that applications for the 2016 Miami Lakes Future Leaders Scholarship, presented by The Graham Companies, are now available.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of the Town of Miami Lakes.
All applications must be received by Monday, April 11, and will be forwarded to the Education Advisory Board for its members to select two recipients. The winners will be announced at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, May 3.
Interested seniors need to submit a typed essay (750 words maximum) explaining in his/her own words how they aspire to make the world a better place. The student must demonstrate academic achievement and a community service commitment, as well as identify future goals.
A cover sheet must accompany the essay, along with an official high school transcript, and three letters of recommendation from non-relatives, one of which must be from a teacher or school official.
