Ballet Etudes of South Florida announced its first performance of the 2016 season – the full length presentation of “Coppelia,” a comedic ballet in three acts. Join Swanhilda and her friends on their misadventures with the curmudgeonly Dr. Coppelius and watch as she stumbles upon her one true love at the historic Colony Theater on South Beach at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 26.

This production of “Coppelia” is under the artistic direction of Susana Prieto Elden and staged by Ballet Mistress Dagmar Moradillos, formerly of ballet Nacional de Cuba. Production coordinator is Peter La Fox.

The principal role of Swanhilda will be danced by three different ballerinas – Laura Moradillos in Act I, and Melinda Gonzalez in Act II, both Ballet Etudes soloists. In Act III, Marena Perez, an internationally renown ballerina from San Juan, Puerto Rico, will perform Swanhilda and the famous wedding pas de deux.

All three will be partnered by Jose Rodriguez of Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico. The role of Dr. Coppelius will be performed by character actor Hector A. Vega.

Tickets are $35 and available at the Colony Theater Box Office, or online at www.colonytheatremiamibeach.com, and via phone at 305-434-7091.

Ballet on SouthBeach is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
