The Graham Companies held the second annual Main Street Banner Contest this year, open to all local students to submit their art pieces for the theme “My Home, My Community!” Over 300 art pieces were submitted and the top 26 were chosen to be showcased on banners along Main Street.
All 26 students and their families were invited to a gathering on 6701 Main Street in the Limelight Gallery to recognize their talents and original winning pieces which were mounted all around the gallery. Each student was also given a gift bag courtesy of The Graham Companies.
Of the top 26, the top high school submission came from Hialeah Miami Lakes student William Zepka, the top middle school submission was from Miami Lakes Middle School student Cosette Perez and the top elementary school submission was from Miami Lakes K-8 Center student Leana Lee.
Councilmembers Nelson Rodriguez, Ceasar Mestre, and Tim Daubert, along with Mayor Wayne Slaton were all present at the event to support all the young local artists.
