Celebrate Recovery® kicks off at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church

Religious Friday, April 1, 2016

Celebrate Recovery®, a faith-based 12-step program, will kick off in Miami Lakes on Wednesday, April 6, at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church, 14800 N.W. 67 Avenue.

The program starts with fellowship and coffee at 6:30 p.m. A large group meeting starts at 7 p.m. with Biblically-based teachings and music. At 8 p.m., small sharing groups are offered based on specific issues. The small groups are divided into men’s and women’s groups and are safe places to give and receive positive support for individual needs.

Celebrate Recovery®, founded by Rick Warren (New York Times best-selling author of “The Purpose Driven Life”), and John Baker, has achieved gratifying results by offering “wholeness” to people everywhere. The program is not simply to recover from past sins and hurts, but to become Christ-like in character.

This is an ongoing program based on Christian principles as applied to the 12 Steps and the 8 Beatitudes. The groups are run by trained leaders and offer a safe,  confidential, and positive place to participate with other people looking for healing. “We are regular people looking for help with hurts, habits, or hang-ups,” said Bodin.

“The program at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church is a God send and will help folks, not only in Miami Lakes, but all over northwest Miami-Dade,” said Miami Lakes Councilmember Manny Cid. “We look forward to working hand in hand with Pastor Stuart and the MLUMC congregation to help our brothers and sisters in need.”

There is no financial obligation and registration is not necessary. Participants do not need to be a member or attendee of Miami Lakes United Methodist Church.
