Family, coaches and friends of Barbara Goleman Senior High’s softball standout Angelica Montalvo gathered recently in Principal’s Joaquin Hernandez’ office to celebrate her college signing day.

Montalvo accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Nova-Southeastern University and will join the Lady Sharks softball program for the 2014-2015 campaign.

The senior catcher is projected to contribute immediately upon her arrival in the fall of 2014 for the Lady Sharks. Head coach Lisa Bonee recruited her early on in 2013 and said, “I am excited to have Angie join our Lady Sharks family. I am sure she will be an asset to our program.”

Goleman head softball coach Orlando Barreda expressed pride in Montalvo’s various accomplishments and commitment to excellence both on the diamond and in the classroom.

Montalvo’s career number at Goleman include a .519 batting average, 12 homeruns, and over 150 150 RBI’s. She will graduate in the top 15 percent of her class.
