Victoria Estopiñan, a student at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High (HML), was chosen as the Piano Slam 7 Best Poem Winner. Estopiñan and the other 14 middle school and high school finalists performed at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on April 30.

The mission of Piano Slam is to utilize music as a tool and inspiration to give  youth a voice through artistic expression. Piano Slam is a poetry writing competition that asks students to compose works of poetry inspired by their reactions to a selection of music, and, if they become a finalist, to perform their composition at the annual Piano Slam event. As the winner of the poetry completion, Estopiñan won $500 and a Notebook computer.

“I am very proud of Victoria and the direction our amazing school is heading,” said HML principal Eric Acosta. “We are truly recapturing our reputation as one of the premier high schools in South Florida.”
