It’s a big year for JetStream Federal Credit Union.
The financial cooperative is celebrating its 75th Anniversary and said it will launch several new campaigns, products, services and a new website in 2023.
The financial institution was founded in 1948 when 10 employees with the Federal Aviation Administration decided to form their own credit union.
It has grown to serve over 14,000 members in Miami- Dade County and Puerto Rico, with $238 million in assets, the company said.
Members can participate in consumer, business and community development financial programs.
“We continue to deliver on our promise of strengthening the communities we all share,” Jeanne Kucey, president and chief executive officer said in a press statement.
It participates in fundraising events for the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America and The Edge Toy Drive, she said.
The credit union, which has a branch at the Royal Oaks Shopping Plaza in Miami Lakes, also sponsors the Miami Lakes State of the Town address, which benefits the Miami Lakes Educational Center’s Culinary Arts Program. That night, aspiring chefs prepare and serve hors d’oeuvres in Town Hall.
“In addition, we participate in internship programs at both the high school and college levels, in partnership with the Center for Financial Training,” Kucey said.
The not-for-profit has an online financial literacy outreach program that works with members, schools and businesses to provide bilingual financial guidance, she said.
A new website will be launched this year, and home banking and mobile platforms will be offered in the spring, said Chief Operating Officer Aaron Small, Ph.D.
“It is particularly gratifying to be celebrating this anniversary as we embark on numerous technological enhancements,” Small said.
Kucey said the credit union is “in a position of financial strength,” with “excellent examination and audit ratings, and capital and liquidity ratios that far exceed regulatory requirements.
“We are exceptionally proud of our JetStream team who work hard to ensure we are always there for our members, our community — and for one other,” she said.
In addition to the Miami Lakes location, JetStream has branches in Miami, Doral, at Mercy Hospital, in Puerto Rico and at more than 5,000 shared branches, the firm’s website said.
Membership is open to anyone (and their family members) who lives, works, worships or attends school in Miami-Dade County or Carolina, Trujillo Alto and San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is also open to select companies and organizations in Miami-Dade County and areas of Puerto Rico.
