Town of Miami Lakes announced it will kickoff its new E-Reader Lending Program with a workshop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at Miami Lakes Branch Library, 6699 Windmill Gate Road.

The new program, initiated by Vice Mayor Manny Cid, provides an opportunity for residents to checkout electronic e-readers for a three-week period at no cost. Using the e-readers, residents will be able to download free ebooks from the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s website using their library card as well as download ebooks using other free websites.

The free E-Reader Workshop will offer step-by-step information on how to use an e-reader and how to download ebooks from the library’s website. The workshop is open to everyone of all ages and those with, or without, their own e-readers.

“San Antonio recently opened the nation’s first all-digital library and Miami Lakes is ready to follow in their footsteps. It’s exciting to offer this innovative service to our residents while partnering with Miami-Dade Public Library system,” said Cid.

After the May 27 kick-off, residents will be able to check out e-readers from Town Hall, 6601 Main Street, on an ongoing basis using a valid identification. For more information, contact Katya Lysak, Leisure Services manager, at lysakk@miamilakes-fl.gov, or 305-698-9308.
