New this school year, Miami-Dade County Public School's (M-DCPS) Department of Food and Nutrition is providing an expanded after-school snack service, the Snack Plus program, at selected schools. This program is available through the Department of Health Child Care Food Program. Students participating in schools with the Snack Plus program will receive a nutritious, well-balanced snack with components from all major food groups including fruits and vegetables at the end of the school day.
M-DCPS continues to serve free breakfast for all students every day at all schools in the District.
To apply for free or reduced-price lunch, households must complete a 2013-2014 Family Meal application either online at http://nutrition.dadeschools.net or by returning a paper application to the school where the youngest child attends. Complete only one application per household.
All schools mailed paper applications to all homes with a letter addressed to parents or guardians on the first day of school. The information provided on the application will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility and may be verified at any time during the year.
Students may pre-pay for lunch online at www.PayPams.com or in the school cafeteria with a check or cash. Full price for elementary school lunch is $2.23, middle and senior high school is $2.50. Reduced price lunch for all grade levels is 40 cents.
Miami Lakes area schools that offer the Snack Plus program include:
Joella C. Good Elementary, Bob Graham Education Center, Hialeah Gardens Elementary, Hialeah Gardens Middle, Miami Lakes K-8 Center, Palm Springs North Elementary, and Spanish Lake Elementary.
