Solid Waste and public works were the top concerns for a group of Northwest Miami-Dade residents during a community meeting, where county officials were on hand to listen and offer solutions to their problems.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara Jordan called the meeting, which was held last month at Joella C. Good Elementary School.

On a brighter note, the residents commended the county’s fire and police departments for a job well done.

One by one, residents flocked to the podium and expressed concerns over Solid Waste, public works and other utility-related services the county renders to their areas.

But they praised Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Police departments.

“Forums such as these allow me to gauge the effectiveness of Miami-Dade County,” said Jordan. “After hearing compliments and complaints, I am able to draft legislation that enhances and strengthens the quality of life for people in District 1.”

Also on hand to address issues raised by residents were representatives from the Mayor’s Office and the departments of Water and Sewer, Transit, Regulatory and Economic Resources, Waste Management, Parks and Recreation, Fire Rescue, and Police. Miami Ocean Studios Chairman Rodolfo Paiz delivered a presentation regarding the upcoming film studio slated to open on a portion of the Landmark property.
