The Town of Miami Lakes honored the late Frank “Frankie” Indiero Jr. by planting a crepe myrtle tree in his memory.

Indiero was 19 years old when he died by suicide in 2019.  The tree and a plaque with information for telephone and text help lines are planted in a park at the corner of Northwest 148 Terrace and Northwest 89 Avenue near Barbara Goleman Senior High School.  Indiero graduated from Goleman.

On May 28, tree planting day, Frank Indiero, Sr. called his son “near perfect” and an exceptional student who always listened to his family.

The father emphasized the importance of parents checking in on their kids, no matter how happy they may seem.

He said he hopes the information on the plaque will be seen by someone who may be struggling and lead them to get the support they may need.

It is sponsored by The Therapy Labs in Miami Lakes.
