Miami Lakes Jingle Bell Jog draws hundreds of runners to downtown

Runners and walkers -- 690 men, women and children registered for the Jingle Bell Jog -- came together on a misty
Saturday morning for a 5K trot through town.
Serious competitors wore spandex; fun-loving carefree types donned their complimentary Santa suits.
One thing they all seemed to wear on Dec. 21: broad smiles as they traveled through downtown Miami Lakes.
Waiting for them at the finish line: falling snow and a medal that looked like a snowglobe.
The second annual Jog had numerous sponsors, and was presented by
Headquarter Toyota.
Other sponsors included A&P Air Conditioning;
Z Roofing & Waterproofing, Inc.;
Specialized Investigations Consultants; the Law
Office of Nayib Hassan; Andy’s Police Supply; Revive Chiropractic Health Center; Always at Your Side Adult Day Care and The Therapy Labs.
“A big thank you to The Graham Companies for allowing the use of Main Street and Shula’s Athletic Club, for hosting the bib pickup location,” Town Spokeswoman Clarisell De Cardenas said in an email.
The town’s Veterans Committee has pledged their portion of the race proceeds to The Fisher House in downtown Miami, De Cardenas said.
The facility provides housing for military families whose loved ones are undergoing treatment at the Miami VA Healthcare System.
