Miami-Dade County recognized 14 fourth graders who won the GO Electric Bus naming contest, including Jayden Hebra from Miami Lakes K-8 Center.
Jayden, 10, from Miramar, represented District 13 and won for naming a bus the Electric 305. Contestants from 37 schools had to have close ties to their respective county neighborhoods and the environment, county officials said.
New Proterra ZX5 battery-electric buses will have the winning names – including Green Clean Driving Machine, Glow ElectriCity, The Sunshine Flash Dash and The Electric Zoomer -- posted inside.
The county recognized students on April 26 at a ceremony held in downtown Miami. Eventually, zero-emission vehicles will make up about 10 percent of the Department of Transportation and Public Works’ bus fleet, the county said.
